Flight to Chennai

Finally, I decided to go to Chennai for my new job. I booked Air-India Flight from Delhi (DEL) to Chennai (MAA) on 30 Nov 2016 and landed on same day@ 08:09 pm. When I told my colleagues and friends that I am planning to move to Chennai for my new job, they started telling me, weather of Chennai may not welcome North Indian and I might face difficulty in adapting the environment. Food was the only challenge, I have in my mind for initial days. As I know how to cook but it will also take some time for me to find good place to live. I don’t like to live a day which is not filled with good food (body) and emotions (soul).

I discussed with my parents my father told me be happy that you got the opportunity and you are going to find very good people in Chennai. He served Indian Army for more than 19 years (approx). I decided to move on with the advice.

Landed in Chennai (Thanks to Air-India Captain and team amazing experience with window seat, I saw three colors blue, red & orange of cloud at a time in straight line. Chennai looked like full of stars from sky).

First Experience:

After collecting my luggage, I inquired the Tamilnadu taxi service and found that, I need to pay around 1000 cash bucks for travelling to Mahindra World City. Due to recent economic change not much cash was handy with me and online payment wasn’t available due to technical issue (common in govt offices). I came out of the airport and booked OLA share, driver told me after boarding the cab that OLA share will not work till MWC and you need to pay more. Upon asking he said, I need to pay Rs. 800. I said too myself

Live life on own experience, never take any advice which isn’t based on practical grounds.

Though driver couldn't drop me MWC however, he gave his best to help me reach out to the nearest hotel which was just 3 KM far from venue. He ensured that I should be safe and land to a decent place.

jo raaste na dhund payen wo rahi nahi

Second Experience:

I joined my great company and decided to search for accommodation, as I can’t live in hotel. Called a number from a banner and guy said please wait for some time and he would be there in next couple of minutes. Standing and keep waiting was the only thing I can do at that point of time with my colleague from company. After sometime a car came and stopped,  I wasn’t expecting owner will come by car to pick a tenant. He drove us to destination and showed us the place. My colleague said we need to see other places too.
On the same night, it was raining heavily so can’t go back to hotel as my phone’s battery was about to die and can’t book a taxi. I called the same guy and asked if I can spend 2-3 nights on daily basis and he agreed. In the morning he served breakfast and said I can use car to go to office. I said thanks a lot, I will walk towards office as it’s 10 mins walking distance.
In evening my friend spotted a place where we got everything which was required by us. We did discussed the formalities and decided to shift from same day. Owner said, you can use my vehicle and get your luggage and have dinner.

Is it Chennai or
some other planet?

4th day in Chennai and didn’t paid the advance rental as transfer will take time after adding payee.

My dream was to live in a place, where I can see mountain and sea from the window.
Thanks to Chennai and people of Chennai.

Bhagwan ne waise hi log duniya me bante hain

Third Experience:

As I said earlier, I was afraid whether, I will get Dal Tadka, Butter Naan/Roti or not. Well till now MAA gave a lot which was entirely unexpected. I found Dhaba Express in MWC. Ordered Dal Tadka, Bhindi Masala, Butter Roti and my favorite Coca Cola. I swear, I never had Bhindi Masala in Delhi or any other part of India like I had it in this place. Punnu the Dhaba is also very good place to have North Indian food.

koi sath reh kar bhi begana lagta hai
koi chand pe reh kar bhi fasaana lagta hai

Other Misc Experiences:

Watching Bollywood songs in South Indian house with smiling faces.
Making them eat Jalebi (North Indian sweet dish), they liked it.
Getting rides with several people while commuting office without asking.
Wrote this blog from a laptop owned by Chennai Person.

Way towards Office

Badalta hai andaaz har zarra is kaaynaat ka,
Apni aankhen taiyaar rakh har waqt musafir.

There's lot to say, but I will keep few things beyond language and silence.
